Half marathon
I hate posting with no pictures, but I am honestly too ashamed of everything I have eaten recently, besides the morning green monsters that I don’t want to show it to the world.
However on a brighter note, people buy some xanthan gum for your smoothies, it makes them have the texture of custard, it is awesome and stops cereal or toppings sinking.
Next on the agenda, I am planning with friends from work to run the Great North Half Marathon in September. I was truly reluctant to say yes to this when Chris from work asked, but frankly it’s for an amazing cause, my workplace supports the charity The Rainbow Trust which is to help families of children with life threatening or terminal diseases. I am one of those people that you cannot mention children being ill or dying around, it makes me really sad and I end up crying a lot. I know it’s a fact of life, but to me it’s so unfair and wrong that such innocent things get hurt. I don’t like it. So anyway yes, I hope to run a half marathon in September, so from now on I will be:
- Running 3 times a week, building up my endurance, with a run/walk method for half an hour until I can run the whole half hour and then I will add more to it.
- Strength training using my body weight sometimes (I cannot afford a gym) as running is catabolic and I like my muscle mass and would like an increase in strength.
- Eating clean.
I have asked people from work to hold me accountable to this, and I am also asking you, my amazing blogger friends who rock so very much, please hold me accountable, do not let me wimp out.
The true fact is, I wimp out of everything, and now I’m being given the chance to do something amazing, I have to do it, I want to do it and I am scared of failure, but I will try.
On to other stuff, university is good, less stressy atm (fuck I jinxed it…), I need to start writing a personal statement and applying for nutrition courses as it’s what I truly care about. I think I must be the only freak in the world that reads every diet book I can get my hands on, every book about food my store sells, and then I read the references they have cited also. I wanna help people and it seems to be a brilliant way to do so.
Night night all, sweet dreams to you all. You rock and are beautiful. Oh and if you have any tips for you know starting from not being able to run a metre to being able to run 13.1km, please tell me, any thing will be appreciated.
Oopsie
So let’s quietly and quickly skip over the past two days in terms of meals… and calories etc and instead tell you much more fun interesting things.
I have finally jumped onto the rice protein blogwagon, however I am not paying a hell of a lot of money for Sunwarrior protein, instead I have ordered a kilo of unflavoured brown rice protein from myprotein.com, it is made from sprouted rice so is supposedly easier to digest. I am honestly just a bit sick of constantly having to mask the hemp protein flavour, it’s good for green monsters and amazing in oatmeal, but sometimes I just want plain flavoured things, not things that have an underlying flavour of dirt. If anyone lives in the UK and would like to try some hemp protein, email me, I will gladly either send it out to you or do a swap with you.
I also have bought some Pollen Granules, supposedly they are this amazing source of vegetarian protein (just learnt it’s not vegan, I thought it was, but like honey it is not, however if I am vegan I will be the eating honey type of vegan as I love animals, but not insects. I will not purposefully kill insects no matter how much they creep me out, especially spiders they move in such a scary and creepy way, but I do not view them in the same way I view animals and fish). Yeah anyway, it is about 30-40% protein, filled with masses of vitamins and minerals which I can always have more of in my life, it also is a good source of vegetarian B12 which is not readily available, and it tastes like honey, it’s yum.
I handed in my essay on time today, managed two sides of handwritten essay on evolution. It is truly quite a fascinating subject and I love learning about it.
More things that have happened since I last posted, I have not seen James and it’s not good, I like seeing him, he keeps me sane while I drive him mental.
Another thing, my mum decided to go all crazy on me on Wednesday night leading to me not sleeping and crying most of the night, she said due to me not praying (in Islam there are the 5 prayers a day, I do not beleive in Islam, my family does not know this), I am no longer classed as her daughter as she has a muslim daughter not one that does not pray. Anyway long stupid story short, the next morning she was ignoring me and by the evening she was talking to me normally and is acting normal to me. She does however keep asking if I have prayed, I keep avoiding the question as I truly hate lying, it makes me feel really uncomfortable and I keep so much from them already, I just feel bad.
Anyway, night night to you all, I hope I sleep well. Last night I had the most vivid crazy dreams, but for once they were not nightmares which I constantly have and generally wake up in tears afraid to sleep again.
Tomorrow and Sunday I am at work, I am hoping to go to a yoga class tomorrow morning I hope…
Oh hey, also check out Averie’s blog for a really cool giveaway.
Grumpy…
I keep getting grumpy, for no reason at everyone. They must be sick of me and I am constantly apologising.
I bought some 5 HTP today, it’s a precursor to serotonin in short and will hopefully lead to less carbohydrate binges (I say binges but truly are about 600 calories which does not equal a binge in any true way but it still is not right that when I am sad instead of dealing with it, I hold it all in and just eat crisps and white bread).
On to yesterday’s food…
Yesterday’s breakfast was two eggs scrambled with baked beans and dry wholemeal toast
My snack between and after lectures was roughly half a pineapple, the juice from them leaked all over my bag and the pineapple was so deliciously sweet, it was amazing. Also I gobbled up most of the pineapple before taking the picture, sorry
Lunch was a cheese and coleslaw sandwich on brown multigrain bread. I also made one for James as he is always curious about me liking it so much, he approved
When I got home, I found a package waiting for me…
Barney butter, barbecue popchips, purevia and clif bars. Ali agreed to do a swap with me, and I sent her a huge package and she sent me yummy American goodies including stevia so I am a happy bunny. Also new clif bars for me to try, so maybe I’ll find a flavour of them I actually like as the ones available over here are ick.
Anyway onto dinner, I had half a roasted kabocha squash topped with barney butter. Barney butter rocks, it seriously seriously does. It was a very happy meal
Then I was still a bit hungry and wanting comfort as I had an argument with my parents as they are insensitive to my feelings but I can’t tell them to shut up otherwise they get hurt and upset. So I had a bag of popchips. To be honest, they are too sweet but for the calories and the serving size they are pretty good.My mum also liked them. I think a similiar thing available over here is soycrisps which are pretty awesome as they have 9g protein per bag and only 110 kcals and are very filling
Unfortunately I was still hungry, I ate a little chunk of cheddar and some grapes. Cheese and grapes don’t go so well together, I should’ve chosen an apple but oops
Onto this morning, I woke up craving greens! I made my first green monster in ages, I added some silken tofu to it, some soy milk, an unripe banana and spinach. I also made a grilled cheese sandwich with wholemeal bread, cheese and refried beans. I did not like it, only ate half.
Instead of the sandwich I ate half a piece of leftover french toast
I then went to James’ house, I probably have spent too much time there this week. I ate a falafel wrap from Durhum, unfortunately due to eating it on the walk to his house, I did not take a picture, but you’ve seen it before, this time however I ate the entire thing.
Now I am waiting for dinner, my mum has ordered this yummy thing for me called an Aloo Paratha, a chapati type thing filled with cooked chili potato mash. Most indian takeaway places do it, however they never taste too good as they put Methi in it which tastes quite gross and makes you stink and sweat it out for days.
Anyway, bye for now. Also I have been walking a lot more, and exercising a bit more, there are free fitness videos on channel 275 on Sky, and they are quite fun.
A really lovely day
So today started off a bit strange, I overslept just a bit and was not able to make it to my first lecture, I did however make it to the second one, so woo. I was meant to have a practical today in which I was meant to chop up a fish and count the wriggly nematodes (parasitic worms) that were in the fish. I am very glad the practical is postponed for a month, I can opt out due to ethical reasons, but i want to do it just because I have chopped up a rat and well a fish shouldn’t be as bad, I’m just scared of the fish smell and blood and ick because they will be fresh from the market fish.
On to today’s food:
- On my way from uni to James’ house, I went past a whole load of fast food chicken places, and all I wanted was chips, then I realised it was because I was tired and cold and wanted comfort, so instead I got myself a medium soy latte.

- Lunch was crudite with a cheezy sauce. I blended up 1 ounce of cashews with 3 tbsp of nutritional yeast and half a lime and a pinch of garlic. I thinned it down with a tiny bit of soy milk also. James and his mum liked it, so I guess I accidently made something yummy.

- I then had lots of black tea and 80% of a chocolate chip clif bar. It was a freebie from the Diet and Fitness show that I went to on Saturday (was crap but I had free tickets so that was ok). I remembered that I truly don’t like clif bars.

- Then I on my way back home ate a tangerine, no picture as I peeled it and stuffed it into my coat pocket to eat on the tube ride home.
On my way home I got off a stop later than my stop and went walking back home while taking ages exploring grocery stores and then decided I didn’t want anything, but I found a cute pink iPod armband in pink at the 99p store, it is pretty and was cheap so I had to buy it.
- I got home and dinner was lentil curry and white rice. A crap photo due to steam and not being able to photograph things properly when trying not to draw attention to it in front of my family.

- I then to keep my niece occupied decided to make some raw cookies, I ate one. It’s the same recipe for the cookies I sent to Jessica a while ago.
My niece ate 3… - I then had some grapes to stop myself eating all the cookies

All in all, I have eaten 1400 cals today, 73g protein (all vegan!!!), 39g fat only 9 of which was not happy fat, 163g carbs and 37g fibre. The only vitamin I did not get 100% of my RDA of is vitamin D, however I will be taking my multivits before I sleep and most RDA data is a bit of crap.
Now I am off to sleep, night night to you all. I start uni off really early tomorrow, however I kinda just wanna sleep and not turn up.
Also a question, to all of you who are vegan, does that mean you do not use wool and silk and are vegan in all aspects of your life or just your diet?
Random musings
It turns out I am not so good at blogging recently, for which I apologise for, and I will try to improve.
It also turns out that I am not that good at sticking to a decent diet, I managed it for 3 days and then I was not so good, however I have looked over past blog posts to figure out what I was eating then when I lost weight and have learnt a lesson, I was eating a lot more fruit and a lot more beans and pulses then compared to now, and I need fruit and pulses for protein and to feel satisfied, I love fruit.
Next point, I am aiming to go to bed by half 10 every night in the hopes that I feel less wrecked in the morning, I can’t stand myself in lectures, all I do is yawn and I feel sorry for my lecturers, they must think I am being so rude.
From this coming monday I hope to get in some form of daily exercise, even if it’s a 20 min walk to my local high street, anything is better than nothing.
I also hope to plan what I will be eating, as opposed to just grabbing food and end up feeling really really awful like I did last night, I felt nauseous and disgusting and I hated it. I am also hoping to avoid wheat again as I felt better then.
I also have a tip for absolutely everybody, please go get yourself fitted for a bra and try on the bras and buy some bras that fit properly, as I learnt I am a totally different bra size compared to what I was wearing and my clothes drape much better now since I am wearing a bra that fits. So go out and get fitted, it may seem slightly embarrassing, but the women in M&S or Rigby and Pellor or wherever, have seen all sorts of boobs and frankly don’t care and are paid to help you.
Now night night, I will hopefully post some reviews and have a nice giveaway for you this week. And a handwritten essay is due in for Friday for me, however I want to get it in for Thursday as then I will have Friday day free to spend with James as the more time I can spend with him, the happier I am.
Week 1 (out of 10), Day 1.
So yesterday morning started off with porridge, made with flaxseed, hemp seed, half a banana, a grated carrot, nutmeg and cinnamon. OMG nutmeg is awesome, seriously try it, it’s so yum and nice. A cup of Earl Grey tea on the side also.
I then went off to uni to have a lecture by my favourite lecturer ever and he is amazing.
Then I had a break in which I ate
A cripps pink apple and…
Some baked, salted soy nuts.
Then I had another lecture and I enjoyed it a lot, but was exhausted as my sleep has not been going so I kept yawning and my lecturer noticed and didn’t like it so much.
After my lecture, I ate a red rice, tofu and massaged kale salad. It was very yum, however I used too much lime on the tofu so it was a bit too flavourful.
Dessert was…
Chocolate CHIA pudding, I swear if I ever run out of my chia seeds, I will pay as much as possible for it to get some more.
After the lunch I had another lecture in which some people were really rude to the Professor Curran and I truly wanted to beat them up, then I went for tea at my friend’s house and then came home to get ready for the concert and ate some food.
Dinner for me last night was a baked sweet potato, some sunflower margarine, The Tomor brand is really nice, try it, it has some flavour compared to the Pure brands that I have tried.
Then me and my sister went off to see NICKLEBACK. It was fucking awesome, the supportin band were daughtry, whom I also love. They need a little work, but I was happy I knew the supporting band for once.
I met James and his brother Tom there, so we were standing with them. It was really cool, I introduced my sister to James, he thankfully behaved near me and pretended to be my friend as opposed to boyfriend.
Anyway nickleback were amazing, we were standing and it was so so good.
I came home and was hungry, so ate some cheese and a sharon fruit. Ignore the satsuma, it was too dry and gross so I chucked it.
Anyway, the title is as I am trying very hard to lose weight over the next 10 weeks, yesterday was day 1. I ate 1600 cals, 54g of fat, 167g of carbohydrates, 50g fibre and an outstanding 76g of protein.
Anyway I am off to uni now, I have wasted a lot of time this morning stupidly, and am running late. I hope you all have a good day, and I will post tonight or tomorrow morning. Me and James are going to the gym now, woo?!
Apology
I apologise for the lack of posts recently, I have been trying to get the damned dissertation finished. It is due in today, hopefully I will get it in on time.
A little recap of my life:
- I am stressed,
- I am remembering how much I love crochet,
- I have put on about half a stone,
- I am on my period and thus eating a lot of shit food as it bloody well hurts,
- I have found my camera cable, I hid it in my hiding place and forgot about it again…
I am also quite happy cos after I had in the godawful crap that will be my dissertation, I will be taken to Benito’s Hat, where I will eat a burrito and have the equivalent of a mouth orgasm as they taste that damned good.
Bye for now, I promise an actual real post tomorrow night, tonight I am working, what a shocker.
Also Monday I start going to the gym with James, I must get toned and fit and pretty looking, or at least lose the weight I’ve been trying to lose for the past two years or so.
xxoxx
Hey!!!
So today was a lovely wonderful day, after trying hard to finish my essay off last night, James informs me due to my advisor messing up the deadline has been extended till Friday, so obviously I had to spend today completely relaxing and not doing anything and instead of going to my lectures, I went to James’ house and relaxed. It was good as I will not be able to relax so much this week due to having 2 pieces of work in for Friday, but I will start them soon… like tomorrow I promise myself.
Tomorrow I have my first lecture at 9am and I am meant to be sleeping, instead I am blogging as it is a lovely distraction. Oh and since I spent the last five minutes searching my very messy room for my camera cable and was unable to find it, you get no pictures!!!
But I’ve been eating a lot of egg white oats, I think I need to buy some oatbran to try it with oatbran instead. Supposedly oat bran is creamier, wheat bran is annoying. I’ve also been eating a lot of vegetables, a lot of potatoes and a lot of cheese.
Thanks to my mummy coming back yesterday night, I will now be eating vegetable curry as she makes it the best. Even using teh same ingredients, and everything being the same, it still does not taste as good as she makes it.
Oh a recipe to make this entry interesting…
Tofu scramble (Indian style):
Ingredients;
- 1 red onion (you can use white, however I prefer this one for the colour)
- 4 baby sweetcorns (or you can use normal sweetcorn, about 3 tbsps)
- 1 handful mangetout or sugar snap peas
- 3 large mushrooms (i favour chestnut mushrooms as they seem to have more flavour)
- 1/2 a tsp garlic puree
- 1/4 tsp ginger puree
- 1/4 tsp coriander seed powder
- 1/4 tsp cumin powder
- 1/4 tsp tumeric powder
- 1/4 block tofu
- 1 tsp olive oil
- Chop everything up into roughly equivalent size, slice the onion into slices, everything else diced
- soften the onion in the olive oil until it smells pretty
- then add the rest of the vegetables and the spices
- once everything is stirred and slightly cooked, mash the tofu with a fork until you get the texture you would prefer, I like it finely mashed, but some people may like it chunkier
- Add the tofu to the vegetable spice mix
- Cook on medium for 4 minutes then leave on a low heat till serving.
Optional:
You can add more spices, or not use them at all tbh, the vegetables give the tofu a wonderful flavour.
You can add nutritional yeast when adding all the spices, as much as you like, but you may need to add a few drops of water to ensure that the mixture is not too dry
Add all the vegetables you want, add spinach at the end so it wilts down, throw in whatever spare vegetables you have, it will taste good.
This is a good dish for people who dislike or are untrusting of tofu being nice, it was the first way I ate tofu when I became vegan (am now vegetarian) I missed eggs and so just threw a whole load of stuff together roughly following a recipe from a vegan cookbook (can’t remember which…).
Sorry for the lack of photo, but trust me it is yum.
Anyway off to sleep I go, please tell me if you like oatbran, and if you like tofu scramble.
Night, xx.
Snow Cock…
So, a lovely wonderful person got a hold of the snow penis pictures for me.
The cock. With the boys, (left to right) James’ brother Tom, Bloom, another Tom known as TDJ, my James (so pretty!) and Dave.
Just so you can see the size difference between the balls and the rest. The boys were standing on the balls to add the shaft to the statue. It was seriously a fun thing to do.
Don’t ask where the smoke came from, but it looks cool anyway.
Anyway today, I read papers, realized I’m fucked in the hopes of getting my essay in on time, I’ve done 100 words so far, need 2900 more, fuck. (Sorry if you don’t like swearing, but it’s my blog and I generally swear like a sailor).
I also ate lots of junk food as me and my family went to my brother’s house to play with my new nephew. He is almost a week old, called Umar and adorable. He is a very calm and cute baby which rocks. I will have another nephew born in April I think…
I have decided, zone diet is annoying, it views fruits as carbs and half a fruit is 1 carb block which to me is stupid and ridiculous, so I will be taking on some of it’s aspects, more protein, less carbs, however I will not hate on fruit, I love fruit and veg and grain and I do get I do not need as many carbs as I do eat.
Also oatmeal foam is a really nice breakfast and I urge you all (but Jessica) to try it.
Tomorrow I am at work, woo and I will hopefully write more.
I hope you enjoyed the cock pics, Night.
